What is SLA Stereolithography?
Stereolithography (SLA) 3D Printing is generally regarded as the most popular form of 3D Printing, and it is considered to produce parts with the greatest accuracy and best surface finish of all the 3D Printing processes.
First of all you will need to create a 3D model of your object in a CAD program. You will then need to send us the CAD file in an STL, IGES or STEP file format.We will then orientate and build supports for your model in our software to get the best result.
We will then slice up the model into thin layers (typically 0.05mm to 0.15mm) in the software and import the program to our SLA machine. Our SLA machine will then build the part one layer at a time. The UV laser beam traces a cross section of the part on the surface of the liquid resin, curing it to the layer below. This is then repeated until the 3D model is created.
Generally the process will take between 6 to 12 hours (dependent on the size and complexity of the 3D model).
